Methodist Southlake Medical Center is expanding its emergency room

Methodist Southlake Medical Center is on track to open an expanded emergency room later this year.

Officials with the Methodist Health System broke ground in November on the 4,000-square-foot expansion, which will quadruple the size of the current emergency room, according to a news release from the hospital. The extra room will also mean a larger patient waiting area and expanded diagnostic capabilities, the release stated.

“This project is one of several key investments that Methodist Health System is making in Southlake this year as we work to be families’ trusted choice for health and wellness,” Methodist Health System CEO Jim Scoggin said in the release.

The expansion is part of the hospital’s efforts to become a full-service acute-care hospital after being added to the Methodist Health System as a wholly owned facility in June 2021, the release stated.

“Expanding the emergency department and growing Methodist Southlake Medical Center is important to me professionally, but it is also important to me personally,” said Pamela Stoyanoff, Methodist Health System president and chief operating officer, in the release. “I have lived in Southlake for nearly 14 years now, and my husband, Mike, and I raised our kids here. I know how special this city is, and how much the families in Northeast Tarrant County deserve the compassionate, quality health care that Methodist provides.”

The emergency room remains open to patients during construction, which is expected to be finished by late August, hospital officials say.

Methodist Southlake Medical Center is the 11th hospital in North Texas for the Methodist Health System.
