A Tarrant County virtual Town Hall meeting to discuss the state's power grid and changes made since the February 2021 winter storm is scheduled for 7 p.m. Jan. 25.
The discussion will include the effects of the storm on the Texas power grid a year ago and what lawmakers have done to address the issues since then.
The deadly storm last February crippled the power grid statewide, leaving millions of residents without electricity for days. More than 200 deaths across Texas are attributed to the storm, while financial losses are estimated at between $80 billion and $130 billion, according to an October 2021 report released by the Texas comptroller's office.
A seasonal analysis released in November by the Electric Reliability Council of Texas showed that the electrical grid has enough generation capacity this winter to meet the state's needs as long as "typical" seasonal conditions are experienced.
