Southlake City Council agrees to Crooked Lane resurfacing

Tarrant County and the city of Southlake entered into an agreement Dec. 3 to resurface Crooked Lane in Southlake. The project will extend from the intersection of Crooked Lane and Kimball Avenue to the intersection of Crooked Lane and Nolen Drive.

The city has annual funds it can use for a roadway project that the city and the county can share, according to meeting documents. Crooked Lane was the project chosen.

The city will mill the roadway, make any necessary subgrade repairs, manage all traffic and stripe the roadway, per meeting documents. Tarrant County will provide the equipment, which the city does not own, as well as labor resources and half of the fuel.

“The resources provided by the County results in a cost savings for the City of Southlake,” meeting documents stated.

The project is estimated to launch in early January. The agreement will expire either Sept. 30, 2020, or the date the project is finished—whichever comes first, per city documents. Crews will be on the road from 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m. daily.

The city estimates the project will cost no more than $330,000 in budgeted funds.
