A Tarrant County executive order requiring face masks goes into effect June 26, but the city of Colleyville says it does not intend to enforce it.
County Judge Glen Whitley issued an executive order June 25 mandating masks be worn at all businesses as well as at events with more than 100 people. The order is effective June 26 through Aug. 3 as county cases of coronavirus have continued to rise.
The city of Colleyville released a statement via a Facebook post specifically claiming the order will not be enforced in its city limits while encouraging its constituents to take all necessary health precautions. An adjoining statement from the city's “Stars and Guitars” festival, which will take place at City Park from 6:30-10:30 p.m. June 26, reads that masks will not be required but will be available throughout the park, as will sanitizing stations.
Colleyville officials did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
