Grapevine police identify rabies case; vaccine clinic scheduled Oct. 28

Following the identification of a rabid fox in late August, the city of Grapevine will be hosting a vaccine clinic for cats and dogs in October.

Grapevine police announced the positive test of a rabid fox in the community, according to a news release. The fox was sighted near Westgate Plaza and Churchill Loop on Aug. 29.

Per the news release, there were no reported exposures between the fox and other animals or humans. In the event an animal or individual is exposed to the rabies virus, a veterinarian or doctor should be contacted and Grapevine Animal Services notified.

Grapevine Animal Services will be hosting a vaccine clinic for cats and dogs—including a rabies vaccination—from 10 a.m. to noon Oct. 28 at its facility, which is located at 500 Shady Brook Drive. The clinic will be conducted on a first-come, first-served basis, according to the news release.

Signs of rabies can include wild animals appearing friendly or domesticated animals becoming uncharacteristically aggressive. Some animals may also exhibit difficulty eating, walking or drinking.
