Grapevine City Council approved the use of city funds for clearing the grounds of a former shooting range during the Feb. 3 meeting.
The Grapevine Shooting Range has not been in operation since 2018, when the city purchased a new indoor training facility and its surrounding land. The new facility is used by Grapevine police and other law enforcement agencies.
The specifics
The city will hire a third-party contractor to conduct oversight, testing and reporting, according to council documents. The contractor, Environmental Logistics Company, will work in tandem with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality to remove 6,000 cubic yards of soil, as well as 450 cubic yards of other materials such as fencing, said Bryan Beck, Grapevine’s public works director.
