Colleyville reschedules State of the City due to forecasted inclement weather

The city of Colleyville rescheduled Mayor Richard Newton’s State of the City to Feb. 9 due to the inclement weather forecast for Feb. 2 and 3.

The address was originally planned to be done once during the Colleyville Chamber of Commerce luncheon at 11 a.m. and again at 6 p.m. on Feb. 3. According to newsletters from the city and the chamber, both will be rescheduled for Feb. 9.

According to the National Weather Service, a winter storm watch is in effect for the Dallas-Fort Worth area from 6 p.m. Feb. 2 through 6 p.m. Feb. 3. Snow accumulations of up to 3 inches and ice accumulations of up to one-third of an inch are possible throughout North Texas.

The morning event will now take place at the Colleyville Center during the Colleyville Chamber of Commerce luncheon from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feb. 9 at the Colleyville Center, 5301 Riverwalk Drive, according to the chamber’s website.

Registration for the luncheon is required. Admission costs between $25 to $45, the website states. To register for the luncheon, click here.

The evening address will take place at the Colleyville Center from 6-8 p.m., according to the city’s website. The event is free, and registration is not required. A Q&A session will follow Newton’s presentation at the evening address.

During the presentations, Newton will reflect on his experience as Colleyville’s mayor over the last six years and discuss the city’s accomplishments, the website states.

Those who cannot attend either of the showings can watch the video after the public viewings on the city’s website and social media platforms, according to the website.
