The Colleyville Police Department was granted approval to purchase 54 new body-worn cameras and 22 new in-car video systems in the new year.
The overview
Colleyville City Council approved the agreement with Motorola Solutions for a total cost of $415,000 during its regular meeting Nov. 19.
The cost will be managed over five years with the city paying $29,705 in the first year and then $96,324 in the four years after.
All in-car cameras function as license plate readers. The server for the new system will also be replaced with a cloud-based solution, which allows video footage to be uploaded to the cloud.
The background
The old server, which stores the data from the body-worn cameras and video systems, is past its life expectancy as of July 2023.
The current body-worn cameras will no longer be supported as of Dec. 31.
