The city of Colleyville will receive about $1.4 million in federal relief funds.
Tarrant County is distributing funds provided by the federal government to cities throughout the region.
Allocated as $55 per resident, the funds distributed to Colleyville total $1,395,350. That’s based on Colleyville’s population of 25,370 residents, according to the city.
Mayor Richard Newton said that Tarrant County wasn’t required to distribute the funds to cities the size of Colleyville.
"I don't think they had to give the money to the small cities, but they are and we thank them for that,” he said at a June 2 meeting.
The funds are meant to be used for expenses incurred due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Newton said.
“We will use that money for expenses related to the pandemic. No city, no state, no county can use it for revenue replacement, which I wholeheartedly agree with,” he said.
