Sea Life Grapevine offered a first look at the new tour based on the video game Animal Crossing: New Horizons on Feb. 20.
The details
Visitors of the aquarium from Feb. 21-May 25 will be able to participate in photo opportunities with an aquarium-themed background with Nintendo characters such as Isabelle, Tom Nook and Blathers, according to a news release.
SeaLife will also have themed signage with information from the video game, kiosks where guests can receive 100 My Nintendo Platinum Points and meet-and-greet opportunities with in-game characters, per the release.
John Sullwold, senior communications manager at Sea Life, Legoland and the Legoland Discovery Center, said meet and greets will be available on the following dates:
- Isabelle from Feb. 21-22
- K.K. Slider from Feb. 28-March 1
- Tom Nook from April 3-5
Players of Animal Crossing: New Horizons explore and decorate their own island, according to the game's official website. The aquarium tour has also made stops at other SeaLife locations in Florida, North Carolina, New Jersey and more.
One more thing
The aquarium has two new sea turtles who will live at the aquarium’s ocean tunnel exhibit, according to the release. The turtles were born at Cayman Turtle Center as part of a conservation initiative from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration due to declining population for the Kemp Ridley sea turtle.
Conservation efforts have decreased as the population has increased again, per the release, and the two turtles at Sea Life Grapevine are part of the last group for the project.
