Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, there are still plenty of Halloween options available for Tarrant County residents. Here are some safe, kid-friendly events, as well as tips from health experts.
The CDC recommends against trick-or-treating this year. High-risk Halloween events include Trunk-or-treats, indoor costume parties, indoor haunted houses, especially if people are screaming, attending hayrides with people outside of your household or traveling to a rural fall festival outside of your community. According to the CDC, the risk of contracting the coronavirus is higher if you live in an area with community spread of COVID-19.
In addition, a costume mask is not substitute for a cloth face mask, according to health officials. People should avoid a costume mask unless it has two or more layers of breathable fabric that covers the mouth and nose and doesn't leave gaps around the face.
Instead, a protective, Halloween-themed cloth face mask is recommended.
