The May 7 elections for Grapevine and Southlake city councils have been canceled as none of the five races were contested.
In Grapevine, incumbents Leon Leal in Place 3 and Mayor Pro Tem Darlene Freed in Place 4 have earned another term on City Council after no one filed to run against them.
Grapevine City Council voted at its March 1 meeting to cancel the city’s May 7 general election and declare Leal and Freed the winners. The two are scheduled to be sworn in on May 17, according to Grapevine City Secretary Tara Brooks.
In Southlake, Place 4 Council Member Ronell Smith and Place 5 Council Member Amy Torres-Lepp drew no opposition in their re-election bids and will each serve another term.
