After starting a search for a new superintendent candidate in February, Grapevine-Colleyville ISD trustees approved the contract for a new permanent superintendent, Jason Adams.
Adams’ contract was unanimously approved by trustees during the June 15 meeting.
“I am truly grateful for this opportunity to serve this community,” Adams said. “I look forward to working alongside of you, and beginning this work, which officially starts tomorrow morning.”
How we got here
Trustees named Adams, who previously worked as a deputy superintendent in Garland ISD, the lone finalist May 21. State law requires districts to wait at least 21 days after naming a lone finalist to approve the hire.
Adams will replace interim superintendent Rick DeMasters, who joined GCISD on an interim basis in December after former superintendent Brad Schnautz resigned.
“GCISD has a long tradition of excellence and I am grateful to join a district that has a solid foundation that’s already been built,” Adams said. “Together we have an opportunity to honor that legacy, continue the important work that’s already underway and assure that every student who walks through our classroom doors, and eventually across that stage, is well prepared whether they’re going into a college classroom or a career.”
