Carroll ISD rental policy update could generate additional revenue

After an initial presentation at a June 1 work session, Deputy Superintendent of Business and Finance Chase Park said clarifications were made to the custodial fee, which requires a two-hour minimum. CISD officials also added a recital package, which allows renters to use the district’s Steinway piano if the performance features district students.

“We have this beautiful piano that’s in our fine arts center,” trustee Andrew Yeager said. “From what I understand, it is a very affordable way, for a minimum two-hour rental, for people who are giving piano lessons to have their recital in the fine arts center.”

Additionally, the new policy accounts for facilities added since the last update in 2017, such as Dragon Stadium and baseball and softball turf fields, after its original adoption in 2013.

Per district documents, the new policy creates three distinct groups for rentals:

• Group 1, which includes support organizations such as booster clubs and the Carroll Education Foundation
• Group 2, which includes nonprofit organizations, community organizations and churches
• Group 3, which includes colleges and for-profit organizations

The new facility rental policy and rates are expected to increase revenue, according to district documents.
