October sales tax allocations suggest continued rebound for Grapevine, Colleyville, Southlake

In a sign that many local businesses are bouncing back from pandemic-induced challenges, Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar announced Oct. 6 that his office will be sending $906.6 million in local sales tax allocations to the state’s local governing bodies.

That represents a 20.6% increase from the monthly allocation in October 2020. Allocations made in October are based on sales made in August by businesses that report taxes monthly.

The trend also holds true locally in northeast Tarrant County.

According to the comptroller’s office, Colleyville will receive a net payment of $541,744—a 10.86% increase from the payment it received last October. For the year, Colleyville has collected $5.9 million from sales tax, a 14.5% increase from the same point a year prior.

Grapevine will receive $3.9 million this month, an increase of 44.4% from the sales tax payment it received from the comptroller in October 2020. For the year, Grapevine’s $35.5 million collected is a 12.6% increase from the same time in 2020.

Finally, Southlake will receive $2.7 million in October, up 15.7% from a year prior. Southlake’s $28.6 collected in sales tax revenue this year is an 18.2% increase from this point in 2020.
