A request to rezone a portion of Southlake Town Square for the development of apartments was denied unanimously by the Southlake Planning and Zoning Commission on Feb. 6.
Cooper and Stebbins President Frank Bliss gave a presentation on the development, which was complimented by several members of the audience during the evening. The development he proposed included 350 apartment units divided into two buildings. These two buildings would be located on 7.28 acres at 401 N. Carroll Ave. in Southlake.
Bliss had given this presentation several times in the past few months, and nothing in this presentation deviated from what Southlake community members had heard before with one exception: He made it clear that the development of McPherson Park adjacent to the proposed apartment site was a separate project altogether.
Following Bliss’ presentation, commissioners each voiced their thoughts about the project, all agreeing the apartments as proposed were too dense and that they did not fit into the city’s 2035 land-use plan.
