Lisa Dean, the owner of Lisa Dean Boutique, seeks to empower young women through coaching, classes and workshops.
Her showroom in Colleyville is a one-stop shop where customers can explore dresses and accessories, and where Dean can coach young women in confidence and leadership.
"I want to see every girl dream past 15,” she said. “ I want every girl to know she's got greatness inside, that she can dream and her dreams do matter and that she can achieve them.”
The backstory
Dean has a background in pageantry as a competitor and was Mrs. Illinois in 2005, 2006 and 2008, she said.
After she moved to Texas in 2010, a mother asked Dean to coach her daughter, Chloe, for Teen Texas USA.
“I said, ‘Lord, no, I’m not a pageant coach,’” Dean said.
Though Dean was reluctant, she coached Chloe, who won Texas Teen USA and placed in the top 10 for Teen USA.
“Her mom wrote me this letter, and she said, ‘I want you to know it would not have mattered if Chloe won or not, it doesn’t matter about the crown,’” Dean said. “‘To see who our daughter was before she started with you, and six months later, to see who she has become, this confident 18-year-old girl, that is something money can’t buy.’”
This pivotal moment led to Dean coaching more young women and building a team of 10 coaches who are located across the United States, she said. They have over 1,500 clients and coach on public speaking, presentation skills and interviewing for colleges, sports teams and leadership roles. They also work with corporate individuals on brand image and wardrobe consulting.
“I don't want to be known as the pageant lady,” Dean said. “I feel like I'm a little bit more than that.”
She opened her boutique in July 2023 to coach women, host workshops and offer dresses and accessories for shoppers.
“It's been an amazing journey, and I've just trusted God with everything,” Dean said. “He hasn't failed me.”
Looking ahead
Dean wants to boost her presence in the community and will offer workshops this summer, including a sorority rush workshop led by previous sorority presidents to help girls navigate the rush process. She will host an etiquette tea party class for elementary-aged girls and a class for adult women who want to learn what colors look best on them.
Dean also plans to launch an ambassador program in which sophomore and junior girls in Grapevine-Colleyville ISD can participate in photoshoots, workshops and post on social media about Dean’s services. In exchange, ambassadors would receive store credit and commission codes for friends to shop at Lisa Dean Boutique.
“I'm using everything [God’s] given me,” Dean said. “Every gift, every talent, every treasure, and I'm using it to make a difference and an impact in girls and women's lives.”
