Williamson County and the city of Georgetown celebrated the completion of the final segment of the Southwest Bypass, connecting the road from Wolf Ranch Parkway to Hwy. 29, with a ribbon-cutting June 23.
Now, the two-lane roadway forms a quarter-circle loop from I-35 to Hwy. 29.
The last segment opened for through traffic on June 22, according to county officials. Construction began in August, and took a little under a year to complete.
Additionally, a 10-foot-wide shared-use path was built next to the road from the north bank of the San Gabriel River to Hwy. 29.
