Georgetown residents may be voting on a $50 million mobility bond this May.
A citizens advisory committee that began meeting in August worked with the public to provide project recommendations to City Council. A final list was presented Jan. 12 for feedback.
“The need for transportation projects in Georgetown far exceeds the targeted $50 million,” the advisory committee stated in a presentation. “We are concerned that a single project—SE Inner Loop—plus allocations will consume all the targeted amount, potentially to the exclusion of other important projects.”
In addition to the top 10 projects ranked and recommended, $7 million in allocations are proposed to be included in the bond package for stand-alone projects, including: $2.5 million for sidewalks, $1.5 million for bicycle facilities, $1.7 million for intersections and $1.3 million for transportation technology.
