Georgetown continuously monitors traffic conditions and evaluates intersections on a series of factors to determine the need for a traffic signal, city officials said in an email.
Considerations include vehicle and pedestrian traffic count, the volume of traffic at peak hour, crash data and the overall roadway network. These factors come from guidelines from the Federal Highway Administration and Texas Department of Transportation, city officials said.
Each intersection is scored through an engineering and traffic study, which guides the city in planning for new traffic signals.
