Whether community members are interested in learning about water conservation, photography or art, there will be a range of events to attend in March.

'Fences'
The Pulitzer Prize-winning play tells the story of Troy Maxson, a working-class Black man struggling to provide for his family. Directed by Jeremy Rashad Brown, audience members will learn about Maxson’s past which includes a prison sentence and a promising career with the Negro Baseball League, but as he realizes his dream to play for Major League Baseball he is filled with regret and resentment.
'Spared:' Documentary Trailer Reveal Party and Fundraiser
Community members are invited to celebrate Georgetown author Clementine Msengi after recently publishing her memoir highlighting her escape from Tutsi genocide. Attendees can expect Msengi to share readings from her memoir and the trailer for “Spared,” a documentary following Msengi’s return to Rwanda. a drum circle demonstration and a traditional dance.

Attendees can witness how abstract concepts such as mathematics, climate change and freedom can be made more tangible through visual media. Featured speakers work with various items including metal, wood, crochet, filmmaking and animation.

The collaborative event with 2020 Market Scratch Kitchen & Bar will include carnival games, food and live music performed by Robert Wagner. The event will benefit Williamson County Children’s Advocacy Center, whose mission is to provide hope, healing and justice for families impacted by abuse, violence and exploitation.

Georgetown residents can learn about water conservation and native landscaping by exploring interactive exhibits, hearing from field experts, witnessing live demonstrations from utility staff and learning about ways to conserve water in their homes.

Adults with disabilities are welcome to enjoy a night of dancing, a photo booth and giveaways at this Georgetown Parks and Recreation event. A cash-only concession stand will be available and a family member or caregiver must be present at all times.

From photo walks and educational classes to guest speakers, attendees can spend a day enjoying photography with featured photographers from Texas Highways Magazine. The event will be hosted by The Williamson Museum and former White House Presidential Photographer David Valdez.

Community members can embrace the holiday by shopping from local vendors selling a range of products from jewelry and clothing to baked goods and decor.
Indian-American artist Neena Buxani’s collection explores the nontraditional ways of expressing the beauty of nature using color, texture, abstraction and realism in paintings. There will be an opening reception for the collection on March 22 from 4-6 p.m. and an artist talk on March 23 at 2 p.m.

Ride On Center for Kids will host its annual fundraiser with the theme Let Freedom Ring. Community members are encouraged to celebrate the nonprofit’s 20th anniversary of serving veterans and its continued mission to improve life skills and independence in partnership with horses.

Ride On Center for Kids, 2050 Rockride Lane, Georgetown
An experienced professional will teach children ages 4-16 about reptile identification and snake safety by showcasing nonvenomous, live snakes from Texas and presenting a slideshow. Advanced registration is required.
The Williamson County chapter of the Native Plant Society of Texas will help attendees find the perfect plant from their locally grown native Texas selection.
