The annual Field of Honor event will be held at Georgetown’s San Gabriel Park, 445 E. Morrow St., Georgetown, on Nov. 6-14, according to the Field of Honor website.
The Field of Honor is hosted by the Georgetown Rotary Club to commemorate active military, veterans, service animals, equestrian units and first responders with over 1,000 American flags dedicated to those who serve their country and communities, according to the website.
Flag sponsorship starts at $40 and can be dedicated to a service member of your choice or an Adopt-a-Hero group. Chosen dedications will be attached to a flag displayed on the Field of Honor. To sponsor a flag, visit the Field of Honor website. The field will also include a half-size replica of the Vietnam War Memorial, which will be displayed all week, according to the website.
The Nathan Chapman Honor Walk is a 5K walk that begins at 8:30 a.m. Nov. 6 at the Field of Honor. Participation in the walk is $10 for veterans and $25 for nonveterans. Walkers will get the chance to say the name of the veteran or first responder they are walking for.
