While the time of year might be an adjustment for some, Popptoberfest begins Oct. 1 in downtown Georgetown on the Square and runs through Oct. 3 with free, live entertainment on three stages as well as a host of artisan booths and two separate food courts.
The city's annual free festival—which previously ran in the spring—starts on Friday, Oct. 1 when artisan booths and both food courts open at 6 p.m. before the Friday Night Kick-off Concert featuring Dysfunkshun Junkshun on the Main Stage, which will be at 7th Street and Austin Avenue.
On Saturday, Oct., 2, the festival opens at 10 a.m. with a car show on Austin Avenue between 6th and 7th streets, and entertainment across three stages. The Main Stage will open with Mega Tune (10 a.m.) and include the Alibis (11:45 a.m.), Mike Hamilton (1:30 p.m.), the Unforgettables (3:30 p.m.), Brave Combo (6 p.m.), Two Tons of Steel (7:45 p.m.) and close out with Texas-favorite Dale Watson (9:30 p.m.).
The Celebrate Stage—at 6th Street and Main Street—will open with AcroTex Gymnastics (1 p.m.) and also feature Dance Empower (3 p.m.) and Dance Elements (4 p.m.)
