US 380 in Denton County to narrow nightly starting April 15

Officials are planning to close a portion of US 380 in Denton County every night through April 20, according to a traffic advisory notice from the Texas Department of Transportation.

What’s happening?

Eastbound US 380 will narrow to one lane between FM 720 and Samsonite Street. Westbound US 380 will narrow to one lane between Magnolia Boulevard and FM 2931, according to the notice.

The closures are scheduled from 7 p.m. April 15 to 6 a.m. April 16. The lane closures are scheduled every night if weather permits, according to the advisory.

The background

Crews from Zachry Construction Corporation will be completing traffic barrier work as part of a $135.9 million improvement project on US 380. The project extends from Loop 288 to the Collin County line and aims to reduce congestion by widening US 380.

The project includes plans to widen US 380 from four to six lanes, improve sidewalks and install lighting. Construction is slated to finish by spring 2026.
