Frisco City Council members approved a funding agreement with Collin County that will provide $329,523 toward the ongoing widening of Dallas Parkway.
The interlocal agreement, approved unanimously during a May 19 meeting, will reallocate unused county funding from the Lebanon Road widening project to support the next phase of improvements along Dallas Parkway.
Some context
Dallas Parkway is being widened to add lanes to the northbound and southbound frontage roads along the Dallas North Tollway.
The project aims to increase capacity at the intersections of Lebanon Road, Stonebrook Parkway, Cotton Gin Road, Main Street, Eldorado Parkway and Panther Creek Parkway, according to city documents.
Phase 5 of the project includes adding additional lanes and intersection improvements on both sides of Dallas Parkway between PGA Parkway and south of Panther Creek Parkway.
How it works
The project is estimated to cost about $18.39 million, according to the city’s capital improvement project website.
Under the agreement, Collin County will contribute $329,523 that was originally allocated to the Lebanon Road widening project. Because that project did not use all of its available county funding, the remaining dollars can be redirected to Dallas Parkway, according to city documents.

City documents state that the county funding will allow Frisco to reduce the amount of allocated general obligation bonds to the project.
