Frisco celebrates local businesses in awards celebration

Gary Carley took home Citizen of the Year honors for his active community involvement at the 30^th Annual Frisco Chamber of Commerce Awards Celebration on Jan. 24.

Carley has held positions including the chairman of the Frisco Community Development Corp. and served as a boar member for the North Collin County Habitat for Humanity.

"With this, I re-dedicate myself to serving this community," Carley said.

The banquet featured a theme of "This Town in on Fire," indicating the city's growth and highlighting the efforts of organizations, citizens and businesses to better Frisco.

In addition to the Citizen of the Year, other awards were presented to individuals and companies alike who have made big strides in Frisco the past year.

Chamber Chairman Rich Allen spoke of the chamber's endeavors for the coming year, primarily setting its sights on gaining accreditation by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

"Frisco's not just an average city, we don't accept just OK," Allen said. "We choose to be the best in whatever we do."
