Adoption of Frisco budget, tax rate expected at council meeting

The Frisco City Council tonight has a full agenda topped by the expected adoption of the 2013-14 budget and tax rate.

Public hearings have been held throughout the past weeks on the proposed budget and tax rate with little voiced concern from Frisco residents.

The staff is proposing the tax rate remain the same as it has the past two years at $0.461910 per $100 valuation.

The council will also discuss increasing water and sewer rates. City staff members are recommending a 3.5 percent increase to water rates and a 3.36 percent increase to sewer rates.

City staff says the North Texas Municipal Water District is increasing the cost from $1.70 to $1.88 per thousand gallons of water and that cost is expected to continue increasing over the next 10 years.

Rounding out the meeting will be naming Frisco residents to serve on boards, commissions and committees, including a bond committee.

The public portion of Frisco City Council meetings generally begin about 6:30 p.m. Public input is at about 7:30 p.m. The meeting is the council chambers at the Frisco Municipal Center.
