Local Frisco restaurant The Community Grill has closed after nine years. The Community Grill had been open since 2017 and had been through several changes in ownership before deciding to close its doors on July 5. The Community Grill served scratch made comfort food and drinks as well as hosting a variety of local events.

2. 5 restaurants now open, coming soon in Plano
Check out five newly opened, or coming soon, places to grab a bite in Plano. Yang’s Smokehouse opened in late June, serving a variety of meat skewers like sliced beef, pork belly, lamb and chicken wings. Hattie B’s Hot Chicken offers classic Southern fried chicken, a chicken sandwich and dirty bird fries loaded with pimento mac and cheese.

3. Northwest Community Park to open this fall
Northwest Community Park is now set to open in September. The park, originally expected to open in June, was discussed during a July 7 work session as construction continues to progress at the site. Northwest Community Park will be a first-of-its-kind park that will be geared toward cyclists, with bike facilities for all ages.

4. Food hall concept Wonder to offer cuisine from more than 20 restaurants in McKinney
As part of a larger expansion to Texas, Wonder is slated to develop a location in McKinney. The company is app-based and allows diners to mix and match dishes from more than 20 restaurants in a single order. Menu items are made-to-order and include a range of cuisines.

5. Frontier Airlines adds previous Spirit Airlines route from Dallas Fort Worth International Airport
Frontier Airlines announced it would add eight new routes that were previously operated by Spirit Airlines. One of the new routes, which started July 5, connects Dallas Fort Worth International Airport to Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport in New Orleans. There will be daily flights to and from DFW Airport, out of Terminal E.

6. Watters Trail South now open in Allen following $1.1M expansion
Watters Trail South is now open in Allen, Communication Manager Kristi Soto said. The project kicked off in mid-October after Allen City Council approved the $1.1 million construction contract in September, according to city documents. Watters Trail South begins at The Montgomery Apartments at Watters Creek and will end near the future Rowlett Trail.
