A new child care facility could be coming to Frisco.
Primrose Schools is looking to open a new facility in the city where 250 students could be enrolled.

Frisco’s planning and zoning commission approved a specific-use permit for the child care facility at its April 22 meeting.
A total of 16,250 square feet of play space is required for this many students. Primrose plans to provide more than that, according to city documents. As part of the specific-use permit application process, Primrose Schools conducted a sound study to determine how much noise its facility could create for nearby residential areas.

City plans say play areas should be away from residential developments.
The sound study considered four scenarios: no facility, and three different configurations of the facility. It ultimately concluded that the noise from the new development would be similar to the current noise level at the property.
City staff recommended denial of the specific-use permit because the facility would not comply with Frisco’s 2015 Comprehensive Plan, specifically regarding the space between the play area and residential developments.
What happened?
However, planning and zoning commission members voted to recommend approval of the specific-use permit for the child care facility. Members said they felt the play area at the proposed facility was far enough away from residential developments to approve the specific-use permit.
What’s next?
Now the project will go before Frisco City Council for its consideration with a recommendation of approval.
