Frisco residents and businesses will see stormwater utility fees increase by approximately 10% to help fund capital improvements and meet state environmental requirements.
During its Oct. 20 meeting, the Frisco City Council approved an ordinance amending the city’s stormwater drainage fees, setting new stormwater rates for residents and commercial properties.
What to know
The city of Frisco charges monthly stormwater utility fees based on lot size for single-family homes and commercial properties. Residential properties are divided into three tiers: Tier 1 for lots under 5,000 square feet, Tier 2 for lots between 5,000 and 20,000 square feet and Tier 3 for lots larger than 20,000 square feet.
Following City Council’s approval of the ordinance, monthly stormwater utility fees will increase as follows:
Tier 1: $4.36 to $4.79 (9.86% increase)
Tier 2: $7.26 to $7.99 (10.06% increase)
Tier 3: $14.01 to $15.41 (9.99% increase)
Commercial: $0.207 to $0.228 (10.14% increase)
As stated in the 2026-27 budget, the stormwater drainage rate increase is needed to maintain the financial stability of the funding and continue making capital improvements. Ongoing rate increases are anticipated for upcoming fiscal years, city documents state.
“This increase will allow for continued proposed capital improvements and to meet the requirements of the new Texas Commission on Environmental Quality permit,” city documents state.
