A streamlined online process for permitting short-term rental properties and submitting complaints is now available in the city of Frisco.
“Providing an online process for registration and permitting improves efficiencies, not only for staff, but for our property owners,” said Director of Development Services John Lettelleir in a media release. “The ordinance ‘checklist’ helps ensure safety standards are met, which benefits our visitors and guests.”
Frisco City Council adopted an ordinance last August to establish requirements and regulations for short-term rental properties in Frisco. The ordinance requires guests be provided with safety information such as 24/7 emergency contact numbers, trash collection schedule, parking information and evacuation plans. Each property must also have at least one working fire extinguisher and be equipped with smoke detectors.
The new online portal, which is available on the city’s website, allows owners to pay the $300 annual registration permit fee online. While short-term rental property owners can pay for yearly permits online, they must pay their monthly hotel/motel taxes with a check and submit the Short Term Rental Occupancy Tax form to the city’s Finance Department.
