Frisco approves $535K sidewalk construction project

Frisco is moving forward with a project to provide walking routes to schools and close gaps in the city’s sidewalk system.

Frisco City Council approved the $535,350 project to construct sidewalks and hiking and biking trails in several areas during its June 16 meeting. The contract for the work was awarded to BMFB Concrete Contractors LLC, who has previously worked on several capital improvement projects for the city.

The construction project is slated to begin in July and last about six months.

The city purchase order includes a contingency amount of $40,000 that can be used during construction to address field changes or adjust quantities needed for the work. Change orders for the project will be submitted to the city when the contingency funds are used.

A project map provided to council shows work will be done at a number of locations along Preston Road between Warren Parkway and Lebanon Road as well as between Rolater Road and Main Street. Other locations include work near Coit Road and Independence Parkway on the city’s north side and along Rock Creek Parkway on the south side.

In addition to the planned sidewalk improvements, the project will also see rehabilitation work done to ramps and sidewalks along Teel Parkway between Main Street and Blackstone Drive to meet requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
