Frisco’s Freedom Fest will see a change in venue this year.
The two-day event kicks off on July 3 at Kaleidoscope Park for Paws and Stripes. On July 4, festivities will be split between Kaleidoscope, Northwest Community Park and Riders Field, which is where fireworks will be displayed, according to the city’s website.
In years past, festivities happened at Simpson Plaza and fireworks were displayed at Toyota Stadium. Because of the World Cup, FC Dallas will not do a firework show like in years past because all teams are on an international break for tournament play.

The background
Frisco will play host to the Swedish men’s national team for the World Cup. The team and staff will use Toyota Stadium as its training base while competing in the tournament.
Although the matches will be played in Arlington, Frisco is positioning itself to be a key player in the area, officials said. Frisco is one of two base camps in the area, and it will host several fan events and is the home to the National Soccer Hall of Fame.
Because of this, the Fourth of July festivities needed to relocate for the year, city officials said.
Zooming in
Paws and Stripes will feature three events including the dachshund dash, runway rover and the corgi clash. Both the dachshund dash and corgi clash are races with the breeds down a 10-to-15-foot chute. The runway rover event will award best dressed pups in several categories including most patriotic, best wiggle, best dressed and more.
The 5K event will happen at Frisco’s newly constructed Northwest Community Park, which was built with 5Ks in mind. The top three male and female runners will be awared in several age groups.
The Freedom Fest Block Party will include vendors, food trucks, live music and more entertainment. Opening ceremonies begin at 5:30 p.m. The firework show is expected to begin at 10 p.m., and visitors can bring chairs and blankets to enjoy the show, according to the city’s website.
