Since filing began Dec. 8, one application has been filed for the Jan. 29 special election to fill a vacant seat on Frisco City Council.
As of 5 p.m. Dec. 10, Frisco resident Laura Rummel was the only candidate listed on the city website for the race to replace acting City Council Member Dan Stricklin. Stricklin resigned on Nov. 26 when he announced his intention to run for a seat on the Denton County Commissioners Court.
Rummel is the director of strategic accounts at PayPal and serves on the Frisco Social Services and Housing Board. She first moved to Frisco after college in 2002. Most recently, she has been a resident since 2017 after two years away from Frisco.
Rummel previously ran against Stricklin in the November 2020 race for Place 5 on City Council. The two faced each other in a runoff election.
