UNT Frisco celebrates 1 year at Frisco Landing campus

The University of North Texas at Frisco celebrated the first anniversary of the Frisco Landing campus Jan. 11.

The celebration included university staff, students and community members along with the creation of a time capsule to commemorate the campus’s first year. The time capsule, which will be opened on the 50th anniversary of Frisco Landing, included photos, university swag and the ribbon from the grand opening in 2023.

“When you [the students], you see the hopes and dreams of the future,” University President Neal Smatresk said during the anniversary celebration.

The time capsule will be housed inside the wall on the second floor of UNT at Frisco, Smatresk said.

UNT previously had a location in Hall Park in Frisco and moved to its permanent Frisco Landing location on Preston Road in January 2023.

Frisco Landing offers about 50 degree programs.

“This building is a terrific first start to a campus, and it's a real beacon for the Frisco community,” Smatresk said.
