Frisco ISD has earned an 'A' rating from the Texas Education Agency for its student performance.
The state’s A-F accountability system measures how much students are learning in each grade and whether or not they are ready for the next grade, according to TEA. FISD’s overall score this year is 91 out of 100.
“We’re proud of the progress we’ve made, and we’ll keep listening, learning and making thoughtful changes to make sure every student has the support and opportunities they need to thrive,” FISD Superintendent Todd Fouche said in a district news release.
With its 'A' rating, FISD is the largest A-rated school district in Texas, according to FISD.
In a nutshell
Among its 76 schools, all FISD campuses received 'A' or 'B' ratings, apart from Staley Middle School, which received a 'C' rating following its closure this summer.
This marks the fifth straight year FISD has retained an 'A' rating from TEA.
How it works
The A-F accountability System was established in 2017 by the 85th Texas Legislature through House Bill 22 to provide clear information on how schools are performing in three areas:
- Closing the gap, which uses data to find differentials between ethnic groups, socioeconomic backgrounds and other factors.
- Student Achievement, which measures student performance across all subjects on the STAAR test, graduation rates and student readiness for post-high school success.
- School Progress, which measures the number of students who grew academically and district performance compared to other districts with similar economically disadvantaged student populations.
“This year’s A-F ratings illustrate the progress Texas public schools are making and acknowledge the hard work of our educators while illuminating areas of needed improvement to ensure that all students have access to a high-quality education,” Texas Education Commissioner Mike Morath said in a TEA news release.

FISD officials will present TEA accountability ratings along with the district’s in-house accountability system at a future board of trustees meeting.
Developed in 2018, FISD’s local accountability system evaluates the district beyond standardized testing scores, using community feedback, student needs and the district’s future-ready framework to guide improvement efforts.
