Frisco ISD officials to focus on support systems, culture of respect in 2024-25 school year

The plan was built upon goals established by the school board in June. The board priorities for the 2024-25 school year are:

• District staff and the community unite to champion Frisco ISD as the premier destination for both students and staff
• Frisco ISD promotes a community-wide culture of respect that ensures positive interactions and behaviors within the learning environment
• Frisco ISD fosters excellence and student growth through differentiated, relevant learning experiences and varied student opportunities

The specifics

The four goals in the improvement plan are:

• Staff, students and the FISD community will develop a shared understanding of the culture of excellence and the unique experiences available to students
• District and campus leaders will develop a systematic approach to ensure the FISD student opportunity model evolves to meet the needs of the school community
• District and campus leaders will create and refine systems of support to improve the overall learning experience through differentiation and personalization
• Staff, students, and the FISD community will consistently respect one another and hold each other accountable to create positive learning environments

The first and second goal in the improvement plan relate to the board’s goal of championing Frisco ISD, Smith said. Strategies for meeting these goals include utilizing district stakeholder groups such as the District Advisory Committee and human resources focus groups to identify ways to promote the district’s culture, according to the meeting presentation.

District officials will also develop ways to improve student and parent awareness of student opportunities as well as regularly engage parents or the business community to identify needs in the student opportunity model.

“This goal is really about developing a shared understanding of our culture of excellence and an understanding of all of the unique experiences available to students in Frisco ISD,” Smith said. “We are looking at all of the different ways that we can tell our story.”

To address the third goal, district leaders will continue to provide resources and support for students and create professional learning opportunities for staff. District officials will also work to educate parents and students about student agency in the classroom, Smith said.

For the fourth goal, the district will continue to provide professional learning and targeted campus support for behavior management, Smith said.
