As of June 1, the state is now handling all new COVID-19 cases in Collin County

Texas’ new online tracking system for COVID-19 is now handling all new cases of the virus, according to Collin County officials.

The online system through the Texas Department of State Health Services, Texas Health Trace, started handling all new case investigations and contact tracings of COVID-19 in the state, including Collin County, as of midnight June 1, County Administrator Bill Bilyeu said to commissioners at a June 1 meeting.

“We have some cases that we’re handling today that came in last night,” Bilyeu said at the meeting. “But as of midnight last night, they move on to Texas [Health] Trace.”

Bilyeu said Collin County’s dashboard that reports new COVID-19 cases is frozen as of 11:59 p.m. May 31 and will remain frozen for the next few days as the county coordinates its data with the state’s.

The state is still reporting all COVID-19 cases in Texas counties on its public health dashboard, Bilyeu said.

“We’re working towards an automated download and update,” he said.

Collin County will continue to report the number of COVID-19 recoveries and hospitalizations from current cases, Bilyeu said.

“We will rebuild our dashboard,” he said. “That’ll probably be a day or two to get there, but we will continue working our cases.”
