Frisco Planning & Zoning Commission chair resigns post, moving out of city

Rob Cox will leave his position as the chair of the Frisco Planning & Zoning Commission to move to a nearby lake and golf course community outside the city.

“I’ll miss being part of this,” Cox said, saying he is downsizing and moving out of Frisco soon. “This is my hometown. We’re in good hands with the commissioners we have.”

According to the city website, Cox has served the commission since Jan. 19, 2015. His latest term was set to expire Sept. 30, 2023.

Fellow commissioners thanked Cox for his dedication to the city and for his leadership on the commission.

“You have served this city very well,” Vice Chair David Box said. “You put in a lot of work.”

Cox told Community Impact Newspaper when he ran for Frisco City Council in 2020 he invested more than 1,000 volunteer hours on planning and zoning "to understand the life cycle of a city." The software executive also supported and served several other city and Frisco ISD committees in his nearly 24 years as a resident.

After the farewell, Box was elected the next chair, Ed Kelly was elected vice chair, and Brittany Colberg is the commission’s new secretary.
