Comprehensive Plan Advisory Committee begins work

The Comprehensive Plan Advisory Committee on Jan. 20 began what will be a more than year-long process.

Dave Wilcox was elected chairman and John Hamilton vice chairman of the committee tasked with overseeing the development of the plan, last updated in 2006.

The group heard an overview of the process from John Lettelleir, development services director, and Mark Bowers, project manager for Jacobs Engineering, the consulting firm for the project.

The city is paying the firm nearly $447,000 for its services to put together the plan to address issues ranging from potential changes to the Future Land Use Plan to economic development and housing needs, social challenges, transportation and more.

The committee will be meeting throughout the next year with consultant firm representatives, the Planning and Zoning Commission and Frisco City Council.

The first draft is expected to be completed by January 2015, and the final plan is expected to be ready for approval by the council in March 2015.

The city is asking for public input and is putting together a website with information, surveys and other Web-based materials. The city and consulting firm will also put together a social media forum, and town hall–style meetings will be scheduled.

The next CPAC meeting is tentatively set for the end of March.
