Kava Culture Kava Bar opened in Frisco, franchise co-owners Ray and Ruselle Hass said.
Kava Culture Kava Bar, founded in 2017 in Florida, offers drinks with zero alcohol, according to the company website. The drinks are made from squeezing kava roots found in the South Pacific.
“A natural muscle relaxer, kava gives you a sense of calm and wellbeing without affecting cognitive or motor skills,” the website states.
The menu’s Botanical Cocktails section features a variety of drinks such as Fijian Sunset, Rappleberry Crush and cookie dough. In the ‘Craft Your Experience’ portion of the menu, the multipart selection process gives consumers the opportunity to pick a feeling from options like mood + joy; relax + move; stamina + strength, then pick a flavor. Add ons, like Fiji tincture and top shelf shot, are available.
Coffee, espresso, tea and herbal blends are also on the menu.
A complimentary sampling of kava will be given to first-time guests in a ceremonial fashion. This is a centuries-old South Pacific process, called ‘bula,’ Ruselle Hass said.
“We do a bula to welcome you to our tribe, especially if it's your first time drinking it,” Ruselle Hass said. “It's a kava culture experience that we welcome all the people who are willing to try kava so they can know the taste and effects of Kava.”

In addition to what Ruselle Hass describes as a cozy interior space, Kava Culture Kava Bar also offers a rooftop patio in the Frisco Rail District.
“We offer a unique space for building new connections and new communities, because we're a community-focused, alcohol free bar,” Ruselle Hass said. “Our mission is to offer the space for everyone who wants to use it, to be able to connect, make new friendships and build a community.”
