Take Heart will celebrate its 15th anniversary Aug. 1, according to a social post from the company.
The backstory
The East Austin boutique opened in 2011, according to its website, and relocated down the street in 2019, as previously reported by Community Impact. It carries a curated selection of home decor, accessories, gifts and art, including handcrafted ceramics, wooden goods, candles, cards, jewelry and textiles from independent makers, per its website.
Owner Nina Gordon worked as a social worker for many years before opening Take Heart, a career change she said grew out of a period of creative self-discovery, according to the shop's website. Gordon took a business class, wrote a business plan and won a grant to launch the boutique, which she describes as "a deep expression" of her creativity, per the website. The shop showcases local and U.S. artists along with a selection of international designers, with an emphasis on Japanese design, its website states.
