Denton County lifted a burn ban that prohibited all outdoor burning at the beginning of October after it was implemented at the end of August.
How we got here
The ban was lifted Oct. 5 after the county received several days' worth of rain at the beginning of the month.
On Aug. 25, Denton County approved the burn ban in response to drought conditions and the nearby Ross fire, according to previous reporting.
The ban prohibited all outdoor burning, including for vegetation disposal, and mitigated outdoor cooking.
What you need to know
Approved burn days in Denton County will be decided daily between 8-9 a.m., the county website states. Factors like local wind and weather conditions are considered when determining the risk of extreme fires.
On an approved burn day, individuals should log their burn on the fire marshal’s website, and residents of unincorporated areas must purchase a controlled burn permit.
