In a social media post, the Denton Fire Department said a contractor hit a 2-inch gas line while working outside the Barnes & Noble entrance. Wind was blowing the gas into the mall, prompting the evacuation and closure, the post says.
Utility workers with Atmos Energy shut off the gas line at 1:45 p.m. and there is currently no danger to the public, the fire department reported in an update.
