Denton’s New York Sub Hub opens food truck near East Side

Denton sandwich shop, New York Sub Hub, opened a food truck at the Austin St Truck Stop behind East Side Denton.

New York Sub Hub has been part of the Denton community since the '70s, and second-generation owner Hunter Christiansen said the food truck was a chance to expand the New York Sub Hub name. 

What's happening?

Christiansen said the food truck wasn’t part of his plan for the store, but his friends Tyler and Jordan Buck had the idea in the summer and they started working to make it happen. 

The food truck offers a scaled-down version of the original menu of sliced-to-order subs, forgoing some of the least popular items until the truck is more established and fridge space is more structured, Christiansen said. 

The truck also does not currently have a toaster, but the plan is to install one in the future.

Although the order counter is a near-exact replica of the one in the original store, Christiansen said the biggest difference is the environment. While upkeep and cleaning are easier, making conversation with customers is more difficult. However, Christiansen said he will keep trying.

The truck currently has a permanent location behind the downtown Denton bar East Side.
