Drivers can expect lane closures to continue at the intersection of Renner Road and Custer Parkway, as work to replace the water line will extend through Oct. 20.

Original lane closures were set to run Oct. 6-8, with plans to return later for paving.

What to expect

Two eastbound lanes of Renner Road and two northbound lanes of Custer Parkway will continue to be closed daily from 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m., according to the city’s website.

These closures might also temporarily impact left-turn lanes at this intersection.

The details

According to a news release from the city of Richardson, construction crews found a concrete encasement around the water line, which requires careful removal to avoid utility damage.

The city has extended lane closures to provide additional time to remove this encasement before replacing the water line. Additionally, crews will use this time to move directly into concrete repaving instead of returning at a later date to finish the work.

Once this phase is completed, work at this intersection will be paused until next summer to align with Plano ISD’s school calendar and minimize travel delays during the school year.
