Two road rehabilitation projects are underway in Richardson, with completion expected later this year.

Both rehabilitation projects began in late 2023, according to the city’s construction update website, and are included in the city’s annual street rehabilitation plan for arterial and collector streets.

What you need to know

Both projects involve concrete repair and sidewalk rehabilitation along two city roadways: Arapaho Road between Greenville Avenue and Bowser Road, and East Spring Valley Road between Greenville Avenue and Abrams Road.

Construction for both projects involves removing portions of the roadway, repairing the base pavement structure and adding a new asphalt overlay. Pavement base repairs began this month, according to the city’s project map, and various lane closures can be expected while construction takes place.

The expected cost for both projects is nearly $2.7 million, per the projects map, with funding sourced from the city’s street rehabilitation fund.

What’s next?

After construction base repairs are completed, crews will place down the asphalt overlay. Construction on the Arapaho Road project is expected to wrap up in May, with the East Spring Valley project finishing later this spring.
