Due to limited on-site parking at Breckinridge Park for Richardson's Family 4th Celebration event, the city will provide a free round-trip shuttle service from its offsite parking locations.

The free Family 4th Celebration is slated for 6-10 p.m. July 4 at Breckinridge Park, which is located at 3555 Brand Road, Richardson. The event will offer live entertainment, children's activities, concessions and a fireworks show.

Open to the entire community, attendees are encouraged to bring picnics, blankets or lawn chairs and enjoy children’s activities, concessions, a patriotic musical salute and more. The fireworks show is estimated to start at 9:30 p.m. after the Richardson Community Band's Patriotic Salute Concert at 8:15 p.m.

The shuttle service will operate from the off-site parking near Methodist Richardson Medical Center at 3001 and 3101 N. President George Bush Turnpike beginning at 6 p.m. Provided in partnership with Richardson ISD, the shuttle buses will offer limited seating and no storage underneath the vehicle. City officials request attendees limit the amount of additional items they bring to the park to help maximize seating per bus. The last bus leaving the off-site parking to bring attendees to the event is slated to leave at 9 p.m.

The city is also offering public notification options for those wishing to receive text alerts about possible delays, weather notifications and other event information. Those interested can text "FAMILY4th" to 888777 to register for the service. Registered phones will be removed from the system after the event concludes, according to a release from the city.
