1. The Heights
Builders Perry Homes, Olivia Clarke Homes and Normandy Homes held a grand opening event on Sept. 18. The Heights is part of the broader Uptown development, which includes several neighborhoods, such as La Terra at Uptown, The Ranch at Uptown and North Square at Uptown. The community is still being built but it is set to include more than 400 single-family homes when completed. The Heights will also have an amenity center with a pool, trails and water features, as well as neighborhood retail and food establishments.

2. Blaze Pizza
The chain pizza restaurant offers signature and customized pizzas, with side options of salads and cheesy bread. The restaurant will be a part of The Crossing at Moore Farms, a mixed-use development at the intersection of Preston Road and Ownsby Parkway.

4. First State Bank
The bank currently operates on Ash Street and the new location will open on Preston Road. The Preston Road location will replace the one on Ash Street. The bank will offer personal and business banking services. Patrons will be able to open personal and business accounts, receive a variety of loans including mortgages, and utilize online banking at the new branch.

5. My Swim Buddy
The business plans to open a location in Celina, breaking ground in September, according to a social media post by the business. It currently has a location in Prosper. The swimming school teaches people who are six months or older. The lessons are meant to be challenging while ensuring swimmers feel safe, according to the business’ website. My Swim Buddy offers a variety of classes so people can learn at their own pace.

6. Academy Sports + Outdoors
The new location will be about 63,834 and cost some $6.7 million to construct, according to the filing. Construction is expected to begin in September and be completed in 2026. The business offers sporting and outdoors equipment such as tennis shoes, hunting gear, tents and more.

The business offers classes such as gymnastics and cheerleading for those ages 3-18. At the existing locations, the business often hosts open gym events where people can visit for a couple of hours to train for a fee. The business announced the new location in June. Construction on the new location will begin in October and be completed in June 2026.

Permits have been filed for a June 2026 construction start time with an estimated completion date of late November 2026. The 158,000-square-foot warehouse will be located at the corner of Preston Road and Ownsby Parkway and is part of a larger mixed-use development that will also feature a Lowes. The wholesale store offers its members grocery products, pharmacy products, automotive services and more, according to its website.
