A pool of mosquitoes in one of the city of Plano’s mosquito traps has tested positive for West Nile virus.

Weather permitting, the city will spray the area near the trap beginning 9 p.m. on Monday, according to a city news release.

The area to be sprayed is bordered by Bob Woodruff Trail/Rockbrook Drive, Hillridge Drive, Valencia Drive/Hendrick Drive and Judy Drive.

The city in the news release urged residents to ensure children and pets remain indoors during the time of the spraying.

In order to prevent the spread of West Nile virus, the city also urged residents to drain standing water in or around their homes, dress appropriately before going outdoors and wear bug spray containing DEET.
